ABOUT THE DEMONSTRATION MANUFACTORY – "where gloves are born"
In the Demonstration Manufactory, visitors gain an insight into the processes of glove-making, where highly skilled craftsmen present every stage of traditional glove manufacture step by step. As they discover the working processes of cutting, pressing, numbering, trimming and shaping, decoration, various stitching techniques, lining, finishing, polishing, ironing, quality control and packaging, visitors can witness the birth of "perfect leather gloves".
What makes the products of the 1861 Glove Manufactory of Pécs especially unique is, above all, hand-cutting – a technique now used in only very few places in the world. This process requires many years of experience and, of course, it is not inexpensive, but the outstanding quality of the finished product more than justifies the extra effort made.
The company’s glove cutters, boasting decades of experience, cut the material from the leather in such a way that it retains its high quality throughout production. As a result, the finished glove fits the hand perfectly, creating harmony between the human hand and the glove it wears. A mass-produced item made in the Far East cannot achieve this, as large-scale production strips the raw materials of their natural and beneficial qualities.
Our leather gloves are handmade in Pécs, designed by Hungarian designers, and made from the finest materials available anywhere in the world. The master glove-makers of Pécs have never had any doubt that “a perfect glove can only be created by the human hand”. The collections are produced based on this principle, drawing on a unique body of experience and expertise. By the time a pair is finished, it bears the mark of the handwork of at least fifteen skilled professionals.
